21.04.2025 Demolition update. It's down!

 Easter Monday. Things are a bit damp out there but it isn't actually raining this morning. So I am spending more time on demolition of the observatory. This morning I sawed off the projecting 4x4" [100x100mm] upright posts. I was able to tease out some of the bracing timbers and joists. Or saw those off too.

  The blogger editing is all over the place. I'll come back later to see if I can make it tidier. The images won't drag and drop [again!]

 

 

 

 

 

17.00 I managed to sever the timbers holding the last clad panel. Then attached the ratchet straps to the car tow hook. I leaned on the strap and the whole observatory floor toppled over. I was so surprised I fell backwards and landed on my bum!   

 

 

 

 

Much later: 

 The result of the demolition and felling lots of oak and willow saplings. 

 Then bringing in lorry loads of self-stabilizing gravel and granite chippings. Still some tidying to do.
