10.45 Reset AWR date and time. Captured some 2k videos. Seeing is rather soft.
2k at 320fps 2.8ms, gain 44, 800x600.
11.00 Increasing cloud cover. Two layers. Denser lower clouds below higher waves. Very little clear sky now.
Having to over process to bring out the detail in iMPPG.
11.35 Sun has reached 33° altitude.
1145 Replaced the Beloptik KG3 filter in front of the etalon but behind the 35nm H-a. It seems to darken the surface detail. Making it more obvious.
12.13 Capturing tiny proms.
I re-checked the etalon placement relative to the focal plane. It was too long by 20mm! What a silly person! So I dismantled the OTA, took the main tube outside and sawed 20mm off the length. After rebuilding the OTA and lifting it onto the mounting the H-a image looked sharper and more even in brightness. The previous darker ring seemed to have spread out. Too much cloud to be certain about anything. Tomorrow is promised to be sunny.
19.00. I went over to "tidy up" at dusk and had a look at Venus. It was amazingly sharp. With a slightly "hungry" terminator. I decided to try it with the D-ERF which I had removed earlier. Venus could easily tolerate 300x provided I didn't mind the deep red colour. A TS star diagonal and the Shorty 2x Barlow kept things comfortable. I almost felt as if I was seeing surface markings and there was no shortage of light. An indented, wavy terminator and a smudgy, darker arc near the left limb. The sky became misty but it didn't seem to hurt Venus' image at all. I really ought to try filtered captures on the moon. The mono camera ignores the colour.
