Sunday 14th of June 2020. 62F. After several days of cloud, rain and even some thunder, the grey skies have parted to reveal bright sunshine. The downside? Strong easterly winds with gusts to 30mph. Which will blow straight into the dome all morning and probably move the telescope around.
Now it isn't just the wind but racing clouds from the east! Plus fierce thermal shaking of the image.
I have a few captured videos of the disturbed area heading for the western limb but the images are poor. Plus I can't dial out the imbalance in brightness across the image. Every time I try to re-tune the PST etalon it clouds over!!
Normally it is easy to flatten the image brightness at 800x600. Not today!
Now the SharpCap timestamp has vanished from every video name!!! Time is clearly set under Setup. No times shown! I rely on those for naming and labeling processed image files! Fitted the 1.6x GPC for more scale and contrast.
In between shaking like a jelly the image quality on the monitor is occasionally quite good. I wonder whether the wind isn't mixing the air more uniformly? Now we are getting much slower moving, high cloud.
The gusts are now shaking the whole building! A solitary vapour trail has been shredded sideways.
I keep trying to capture videos between gusts. The capture timings are back.
