1.8.20

1st August 2020 It's all happening!

*

Saturday 1st Aug. 71/70F, clear bright and breezy start. Thin high cloud moving slowly. The SE wind is blowing the telescope about! Not surprising with the slit facing into the wind.

The seeing is mushy again. Probably due to the high cloud. The eastern disturbance is spectacularly large and complex. I am going to change to the 2x instead of 2.6x so I can get it all into an 800x600 frame.

The dark area on the limb remains. Further south is a bright spot resembling a sunspot in its own right. Poor images so far.

AR2767 now nearing the SW limb is again poorly defined so far.  I shall keep trying.

My efforts are over-sharpened to bring out the detail. Hopefully conditions will improve.

Now changed to the 1.6x GPC to capture more area. The cloud is seriously thickening. Giving up for the moment.

14.30 82/75F. Still cloudy but brighter. Using the 1.6x GPC and larger frames to get all the detail in the NE quadrant.

14.49 A brief clearing in the clouds allowed a better image. 800x600 1.6x GPC.
