11.12.2020 Motor/worm housing: Further reinforcement.

 *

Friday 11th. 34F, heavy overcast with light, wintry showers. Another miserable day withouut sunshine.

I continued with my mock-ups of worm housing reinforcement. A further length of the same angle profile was sacrificed. To achieving a complete "trough" form around the RA worm housing.

The first image [Right] shows the reinforcing angles wrapped around each other and the worm housing. This is the view from the back or pier side. Here, the assembly is inverted.

Once the two angle profiles are bolted together and onto the motor box they should help to stiffen up the worm housing quite nicely.

The second image [Left] shows the RA drive assembly the correct way up. The motor is now considerably offset from the worm housing. Though luckily the timing belt just reaches between the two pulleys. No longer any need for a tension roller.

I still have to make a new motor mounting plate and rear reinforcing angle. To match the new layout. In the absence of the new screws arrival I shall just have to stack all the bits on top of each other.
