Friday 5th 22F/-6C sunny but frosty. Reached 40F at 13.30.
The details of the new doorway are now much clearer in my mind.
There was a lot of messing around yesterday. Mainly because I had not a single, spare clamp. I tried out various mock-ups for a new entry door. As I found suitable lengths of timber which better matched my needs as the day went on. I was having to lean things against each other to make them stay up. Luckily, seven new, discounted clamps arrived this morning.
I have now removed the 2x8 extra joist again as it served no real purpose. Then I raised the wall frame which I had removed yesterday. This was to ensure correct alignment and verticality. After careful checking with the level I screwed the frame to the existing octagon structure and the next frame.
This afternoon I shall cut away the lower length of the marked post and its cross brace at the base. This will clear the way for the new door frame. Followed by more digging to move its foundation block to the right. So that it lies directly under the new door post.
I made considerable progress but then had another "dizzy spell."
