Thursday 1st 65F, overcast and windy.
I placed a length of slotted angle across the slit at the top of the
dome. This provided support, without thickness, for anything added. Like dome profile templates and shutter slides, for example. It was immediately obvious that I had nothing to worry about with slide clearance over the dome.
The second image shows the slides extended. There will be cross boards
supporting the shutters and screwed to the slides. The slide bases will also be screwed to a zenith board. Which will extend above the dome as much as required for extra beam stiffness. The increased area will allow for the slides to be raised as required. While ensuring
clearance from the outer edges of the shutters when closed.
The shutters part in a horizontal movement of 50cm each. The central, shutter ribs are stopped against the slit ribs when the shutters are fully open. The central ribs must obviously be deep enough to stop against the slit ribs. The slit ribs must not be taller than will fit under the curved shutters when they are closed.
