 Monday 6th. Bright overcast. 46-66F.

I have changed my mind on how to lift the shutters into place. They will now be lifted sideways to follow the curve of the dome. One from each side. Not lifted straight up by a tall ladder standing within the slit. The latter would be unstable and a dangerous exercise.

Getting a grip on the end of each shutter pulling from the end, would be a struggle. Whereas lifting them sideways avoids this serious risk. I shall use a long ratchet strap with a noose around each shutter in turn. The strap can run over the tops of the slit ribs. With suitably protective, low friction covers. I expect the boat winch will make light work of each lift.
