10:15. Set up for imaging but heavy plates of cloud coming from the SE. Patience required today! Getting windier as the morning wears on too.
AWR needed date and time changing in RTC again.
I have removed the foam dewshield to reduce wind movement. Dew circle on the inside of objective lens shrinking.
Reduced exposure to 0.6ms in clear patches. 3k frames. Seeing conditions going from bad to awful! Wind rising, blowing straight into the dome! Down to 0.5ms in clear spells! No gain.
I read on Solar Chat that somebody recommended removing the Beloptik KG3 filter from the light path. I tried this and thought I saw greater contrast of H-a, solar surface features but can't be certain.
The wind kept strengthening. Making it unpleasant in the observatory and impossible to image. So the afternoon "shift" didn't last very long before I had to pack up and return indoors to the warm.
