7.3.20

7/03/2020 The absence of sunshine.

*

Saturday 7th, despite a sunny forecast there was thick mist until after lunch.

Later, I went over to the observatory and set up for H-a imaging. Just in time for heavy cloud to arrive from the WSW.

15:00 A fleeting view of surface texture to focus on before the sun disappeared. Slower moving cloud today than of late. Which means longer waits for openings. If any. The horizon is brighter so I am not without hope.

Cleared at about 16:00. Checking temperatures at focus. Continuous, late afternoon sunshine.
Digital In/out thermometer. Out sensor clipped at focus using extension tubes.
Tracking at solar. Thermometer case lashed beside the extension tubes in shade. Minutes allowed to elapse per reading.

Ambient 53F falling slowly. D-ERF, PST etalon and UV/IR filters Ambient -2F.

D-ERF + Filters NO etalon = Ambient -2F

16:15. Removed D-ERF = Ambient -1F.

Totally inconclusive. Too late in the day to check real temperatures.

Sunday 8th: 41-46F, grey and windy, followed by rain.
