Friday 8th May. 43F, bright again and breezy from the west.
8.30 46/52F. Some thin high cloud. AWR had reversed Dec Direction drive again. So the telescope ended up nose down instead of pointing up at the rising sun.
Typical thermal agitation of the image but quite clear at times. Not much to see in the way of features. A small prom at 8 o'clock. Gong Ha is a bit of a mess today.
The coarseness of the image [right] is obvious after being simply opened and saved in ImPPG. No processing and all default settings. This image used a "flat" to smooth image brightness.

With a bit of movement of the ImPPG sliders the image [Left] has died and gone to sharpening hell!
15.00 72/65F The camera temperature is up to 43C. Which clearly shows in the noise. I captured the prom at 8 o'clock relative to the solar limb. The B1200 was far superior for these proms. The PST BF was snowed out with extraneous light. I couldn't even get a sharp focus.

15.33 73/66F. The camera has reached 43.6C. Slightly better seeing conditions allowed more gentle processing. Flat applied.
18.44 70/60F A late attempt to catch better seeing conditions. Just before it went behind the trees.
---------------------------
Having banged my head on the end of the Dec shaft again I am replacing
it with the shorter original. There is only a difference of about 4" in
length but it reduced a potential target for my last remaining brain
cell.
I had fitted a tow hook, ball cap which had helped to reduce the pain of the
impact. The problem is that the Dec shaft hangs over the open trapdoor
from which I emerge from the ground floor. It shouldn't take long to finish the job after
lunch. Having completed the swap I retracted both worms to ensure the telescope was balanced.
19.10. 68/60F Packed up for today.
