Fullerscopes Telescope Mountings

This blog has become my ATM design, build and imaging diary. I have recently built several new telescopes, a large equatorial mounting and a raised 10' [3m] dome on an octagonal building. Be aware that I deal with building solar telescopes. Which are potentially VERY dangerous! I can accept NO responsibility for any action not directly supervised by myself. 11.10.2020 Bad seeing and cloud.

Sunday 11th 10.40, 50/49F, overcast start, breaking to blue patches. Cool and windy from the SW.

Set up and synced at parking place: Horizontal East. Slewed to the sun and missed by a mile. Pointing too high. Far too much cloud to get aligned and centered! Two distinct layers of cloud again.

10.50 finally centered on the AR in southern hemisphere. Looks "busy." Better seeing than yesterday. Then solid cloud! Perhaps I should take up knitting to amuse myself while I wait for a clearing?

11.00 Still waiting for a proper clearing. Severe thermal wobbling. Wind blowing around in the dome. Lower cloud coming from the south.

11.25. Still no clear image and I need gloves!

11.40 Giving up. Solid cloud now.
