11.09.2021 New shutter-rib brackets.

Saturday 11th 62F, overcast and raining.

In town I was able to buy some more rubber washers and some slotted brackets. The latter allow adjustment but need milling out to make room for the 10mm screws. The brackets are clamped with large, stainless steel washers. So won't be weakened by a wider slot.

Milling proved to be slow and noisy. So I drilled the slots at short intervals with a 9mm drill. Followed by the 10mm. Cleaned up the resulting slot with a file and then de-burred with a smaller file. Checked that the coach bolts will slide easily in the widened slot. They do. All 20 of them.

Note the considerable difference in rib position relative to the existing holes in the shutters. I gain a minimum of 6mm and up to 44mm to the bolt centres from the face of the shutter ribs. I need to gain about 20mm extra width on each shutter so these very long slots are hardly necessary.
